Searching the Online Catalog

You can search through our online catalog using keywords here.

Searching for:
Search through all fields (also include country/epoch, product group, article collection)
  Search only for hole words
Search ONLY for a article number

Do not use strings like that: "knight's cross" because the single ' char raise an error!
Use "+knight +cross" instead.

Once the search has been activated, you are provided with an overview of all the articles found that contain the word or words entered.

Help:

Search through all fields (also include country/epoch, product group, article collection):

If this checkbox is activated (default), we search in the fields "country", "product group", "article collection" and "item description".
In the case of a not activated checkbox, we search ONLY in the field "item description".

Search only for hole words:

This checkbox is not activated by default. In this case we search for strings not for words. If your search string is "test", the search engines result are:
contest, testimonial, protestant and test.
In the case of a activated checkbox the result of the search engine for the search string "test" is only the word "test".
The words contest, testimonial, protestant are NOT shown.

Search ONLY for a article number:

Activate these checkbox if you are searching for a article number. It will find all article numbers where ended with the number you are entered.
All other checkboxes are deactivated! This checkbox is not activated by default.

Using more than one word:

You are welcome to enter more than one word into the search window. If so-called search operators are not used (see below), all articles containing at least one of the search words are returned by the search.
Do not use strings like that: "knight's cross" because the single ' char raise an error!
Use "+knight +cross" instead.

Linking words for the best results:

Please note that you have to inform the search module whether you would like all the chosen words to appear simultaneously in the article or only one of them. Or, indeed, whether you would like some words to be left out altogether.

  • All simultaneously: By placing a plus sign '+' in front of the respective word it is allocated a so-called search operator. Empty spaces between the plus sign and the word are not allowed.
  • Not at all: Sometimes words occur in a context that is not relevant to your search. By placing a minus sign immediately in front of the word, the word is not permitted to be present among articles.

Capitalization:

Our search module ignores capitalization.

Creating phrases:

Unfortunately, many descriptions can be formulated using two or more words. Names for example: Considerably more is understood when a person's full name "Bill Gates" is used rather than just the surname "Gates". And it's the same for our search module. In the same way as with word combinations, you have to make it clear that the words belong together. This is done using inverted commas, like this: "Bill Gates". This also applies to several words, for example: "1933 to 1945".

Not to be confused: linking a '+' with words means that they can be contained somewhere within the article, phrases must be contained within the articles as they appear between the inverted commas. In the same way as described above, to achieve the best results for phrases a '+' or '-' sign has to be placed directly in front of the inverted commas, with several phrases being separated by empty spaces.
